Here are some excerpts from my photography blog:

The Cult of Style Blog Post about Chris Kilkus Photography

Thank you to the folks at the Cult of Style blog for publishing a shoot a did a little while back in a sunny and warm Los Angeles.  This was a test shoot I did with the fashion stylist Kate Riney and hair & make up artist Maria Nguyen.  Our model for the day was Noora Laapi.  I wanted to keep this a pretty loose shoot… just go out and have fun, look for nice spots and nice light and take some simple photos.

One of the big problems with shooting video on the Canon 5d is that you don’t have much leeway in post on color and exposure adjustments….. but it’s amazing to see what how far he was able to take some of the footage we shot together!

BEBE Sport Fashion Advertising Campaign

I did a lot of shoots for bebe, I’ll be posting a few more over the next couple weeks, but this was one of my favorites.  I love this hard, direct lighting… it’s clean, simple and gives the photos an added sense of energy.  It was one of those days when everything went perfectly and the shoot was just easy and fun.

Shooting a stock image gallery for Cosmopolitan Magazine

A while back Cosmopolitan magazine asked me to shoot a gallery of images they could use to illustrate men’s stories in their magazine.  It called for getting a lot of images in a day, and a few different scenarios and moods as well.  They wanted most of it to have that California vibe, so we stayed out in the sun around Santa Monica and Venice for everything.  It was a long day, but also quite fun… it always is shooting around the beach towns in SoCal!

New Branding
A while back I hired Nadine Sellavato at Brand Envy to help me come up with branding for my business materials.  It’s something I had been thinking about for years…. in the past I had always done my own design, but that just wasn’t cutting it anymore.  I have decent taste but I didn’t have any training as a graphic designer.  As my business grew and I became more successful, I wanted that to be reflected in the material I presented to clients.  It was an interesting process to go through and took a long time and quite a few revisions to dial in, but I am quite pleased with the results.
